Home Goods

A home should reflect the personality, interests and passion of those who live in the home. Factors such as room size and the preferred style of decor influence the furniture and appliances that are chosen. After all of the big ticket items have been purchased and put in place, the real pleasure of decorating a home or outdoor space can begin. It's the accessories that personalize a home. The home goods area is an aspect of a home design where the unexpected can be introduced into a decor to create a uniquely attractive home.

When selecting decorative accessories, don't be afraid to step over the invisible boundary that some people believe separates specific decors. For example, a modern kitchen with its granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances would be the perfect location for a colorful, 3-dimensional metal sign that signs says, "eat". Metal signs made from recycled metal are perfect for an industrial loft apartment. In keeping with the modern, simplistic, industrial theme, a wooden ladder pot rack would be a functional and conversational part of a home decor.

With the trend toward small home living being so popular, it's always a bonus to find decorative accessories that can double as storage areas. There are many vintage decorative accessories that can be incorporated into almost any home decor. Colorful ammo boxes, antique trunks and vintage trays are just a few examples of multi-purpose home goods that can be an attractive addition to most home decors.

The exterior space that surrounds a home should also be designed so that it pleases the homeowner and intrigues or impresses those who pass by. Trellises can be used to create private spaces for lawns or decks that lack privacy. Decorative yard art, whether it be a folk art rooster or pink flamingos, can add whimsy to a lawn. For a more sophisticated form of garden art, there's options such as a sundial obelisk, topiary frames and exceptionally attractive gazebos. Metal signs can also be used to enhance a garden, make a statement or generate a smile from anyone who passes by.
